Legent Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

HOW IT CAME TO BE (In a nutshell) :

Legendary titans Fred Noe (Yes, Jim Beam’s great grandson and Master Distiller) and Shinji Fukuyo (Master Blender for the house of Suntory distillery in Japan) meld their different styles of bourbon and whisky to create Legent. Over two centuries worth of Japanese whisky flair marry the core of the quintessential bourbon-making rites. Serious lineage here! Essentially, three different barrels create the nuances and flavors of Legent.

BARRELS USED: White Oak, Sherry, and Red Wine.

COLOR:

I am learning and appreciate understanding what barrels are used to create the various spirits if you will. That’s how you know what color it may give off, given aging (time) process. In this case, this bourbon-whiskey goes through the oak, then sherry, and then red wine cask finishing. With that blend in mind you will see that red wine hue creating a beautiful deep copper tone.

AROMATIC PROFILE:

(try not to “nose-dive” it lol – learned the hard way LOL!!) I tend to let my pours breath for a few moments before I try them. For me, the sweet sherry smell gets me and entices you to go ahead and try.

WHAT I COULD TASTE:

Wine, subtle char (promise, it’s not peaty), spicy notes from the oak, vanilla, and subtle sweet fruity notes as well.

I PAID:

$ 34.99 plus tax

HOW I DRINK IT:

Personally, I drink bourbon or whiskey neat, with a little bit of water or one or two small cubes of ice to open up the layers. I’m sure this would be phenomenal in a cocktail like a Manhattan, Old fashioned, or even a warm cider …yummmm! Push the envelope with the endless possibilities.
